Weiskopf Consulting Services

Overview

Weiskopf Consulting Services (WCS) is located in Clifton Park, New York just north of Albany.  It was established to provide government and not-for-profit decision-makers with information and analysis necessary to make informed public policy decisions.

About the Director

Gary Weiskopf is the Director of WCS and an adjunct professor of public management at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.

Mr. Weiskopf has more than two decades of public policy analysis and project management experience. His areas of specialization include policy analysis, program evaluation, public management, and budget analysis.  Alone or with others, Mr. Weiskopf has written numerous reports or articles on mental health systems finance and management, family literacy, environmental policy, New York State and local government, and federalism.

Mr. Weiskopf was the Executive Director of the New York State Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors in Albany, New York from November 2000 until June 2005.  The Conference is a statewide membership organization comprised of county mental hygiene directors and commissioners in all of the 57 counties and the City of New York.  As Executive Director, Mr. Weiskopf worked with counties, state and federal agencies, the legislature, professional groups, and advocacy organizations to achieve policies, practices, laws, regulation and funding necessary to ensure comprehensive, integrated and cost effective systems of care for mental health, alcohol and substance abuse, mental retardation and developmental disabilities.

Previously, Mr. Weiskopf served as Acting Director of SUNY's Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government, Center for New York State and Local Government Studies. He was also Director of the New York State Public Management Internship training program and responsible for the development of training, workshops, and seminars on critical public policy choices facing New York State and local government.

Prior to coming to the Rockefeller Institute, Mr. Weiskopf worked as an Environmental Economist for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection and as a Senior Budget Analyst for the New York City Office of Management and Budget.

Mr. Weiskopf has a M.P.A. from Columbia University and a B.A. from SUNY Albany.
